When I was about 14 my class was on a shopping trip with our local priest as part of our bible education. I wanted to buy a shooter game, but it was rated 18+, so I asked the priest if she could buy it for me and she did. GameStop is a dying horse anyway.

Those ratings are actually more like suggestions than actual hard age limits. It's just parental advisory stuff. The stores do not actually have to obey these limits they can just sell the games to anyone they want.

The cashier gives no fucks about this. He could lose his job for selling the game to an underaged kid. Gift cards don't have age limits (at least where I live) so the kid can buy that legally. What the kid then does with that gift card is not the cashiers problem.

Fucking Owen... That name on a employee directly makes me think he's incompetent, atleast not as bad as Kevin, Chad or Kyle. Also here in Germany you can't buy alternative payment methods when you're below 18 (legally, most cashiers give 0 fucks)

I know some japanese companies have cash cards, that have a upper limit for what kids of specific ages can buy. The younger you are, the less you can actually buy without parental consent.

I used to do that to a gamestop near where i live. Eventually they put the age restriction to the gift cards to 16 while i was 15. When i turned 16 they had switched to 18 instead of 16. 2 years later, when i finally turn 18, they shut down the store. Fun

This happened to me once when I was trying to buy a game from gamestop. I then went outside and asked a lady to pretend to be my mom so I could buy it

In germany actually no! Let's say the kid there is like 12, he falls under the following law: A kid is allowed to make transactions in the boundaries of pocket money. 100$(or € here) is NOT pocket money. So the shopkeeper can be held acountable for. OH WAIT....these store card are actually only for ages 18+ here. SO NOPE XD
